Australian tennis player, Nick Kyrgios has made it into the second round of the 2019 US Open in New York. At this stage of the tournament, Nick Kyrgios is set to play against Antoine Hoang from France.
Antoine Hoang won his previous match in 5 sets as he defeated Leonardo Mayer from Argentina. It was a close match but Hoang held his nerve in the final 2 sets to win the overall match. During the victory, Antoine Hoang impressed with his receiving as he won 41% of his receiving points which allowed him to break his opponent’s serve on 7 occasions. The serving was also impressive from Antoine Hoang as he won 91% of his service games. This is expected to be a much tougher match for Antoine Hoang.
Looking at Nick Kyrgios, the Australian won his previous match with some ease as he defeated Steve Johnson in straight sets. During the victory, Kyrgios impressed with his serving as he hit 24 aces which aided him in winning 75% of his service points. Nick Kyrgios also won 4 return games to secure a comfortable victory. When focussed, Kyrgios is an elite player and he has shown that in recent months as he won the Citi Open in Washington DC. Kyrgios had a poor campaign at Cincinnati where he lost his calm in his match against Karen Khachanov. Such a performance shows that Kyrgios must remain focussed if he is to win this match.
This will be the first time that Nick Kyrgios and Antoine Hoang will be playing each other at an ATP event.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Nick Kyrgios to win this match. Kyrgios is a very talented player and is a much stronger player than Antoine Hoang. Nick Kyrgios looked determined during his previous outing and I see him remaining focussed and winning this match.
