Australian tennis player, Nick Kyrgios has made it into the quarterfinals of the 2019 ATP Miami Open. At this stage of the tournament, Kyrgios will play against Borna Coric from Croatia.
Nick Kyrgios has been in good form over the past few months and that resulted in him recently winning the ATP Mexican Open. Kyrgios enters this match having won his previous match in straight sets. It was an emphatic display by Kyrgios as he won 63% of his return games to set up an easy win. This will be Kyrgios’s first major test at this tournament considering he is playing against the number 11 seed.
On the other side of the court, Borna Coric has also been playing well this season. Coric made the semifinals of the ATP Dubai Tennis Championship and also had a deep run at the Australian Open. In his previous match, Borna Coric won in 3 sets against Jeremy Chardy. It was a close match where Coric lost the opening set but fought back strongly to get the outright win. During the win, Borna Coric served very well as he hit 14 aces and only lost 1 service game. Coric’s returning was solid as he broke Jeremy Chardy’s serve on 4 occasions.
Nick Kyrgios and Borna Coric have played 3 times in the past with Kyrgios winning on 2 occasions and Coric winning once. The most recent match between these two players was in 2018 at the Cincinnati Masters where Kyrgios won in 3 sets.
Taking everything into notice, I am going to pick Nick Kyrgios to win. This should be a close match but Kyrgios seems to with better form and more confidence at the moment. Kyrgios has recently beaten the likes of Stan Wawrinka and Rafael Nadal so he is playing extremely well and I see him continuing in his winning ways.
