N. Kyrgios +300 / R. Nadal -400
Spanish tennis legend, Rafael Nadal will play against Nick Kyrgios in the second round of Wimbledon.
Nick Kyrgios had to battle for 5 sets to defeat Jordan Thompson in the opening round. It was not the best performance by Kyrgios as he hit multiple unforced errors. That being said, Nick Kyrgios won vital points in two tiebreakers to ensure he won the overall match. The serving was a problem for Nick Kyrgios as he hit 6 double faults which contributed to him losing 7 service games.
It has not been a good grass court season for Nick Kyrgios as he has only won 50% of his matches on grass in 2019. This is a big game for Kyrgios as he has developed an off-court feud with Rafa and the Australian will hope to defeat the Spaniard.
Looking at Rafa, the Spaniard had a solid win as he defeated Yūichi Sugita in straight sets in the previous round. Nadal was emphatic as he won 95% of his service games and 6 return games. It was a solid win for Rafa and he looks in very good form.
Rafa has been outstanding in 2019 as he won another French Open title. Nadal also made the final at the Australian Open. Nadal has a good record at Wimbledon as he has won the title twice. Considering his current form and his record at this venue, Rafa will be confident that he can challenge for the title.
Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios have played each other 6 times in the past with both players winning on 3 occasions. Kyrgios won the most recent meeting which was at this season’s Mexican Open. Nadal last beat Kyrgios in 2017 at the final of the China Open.
With everything taken into consideration, I am going to pick Rafa to win this match. Kyrgios has not been playing well in 2019 and the Australian had been in poor form prior to arriving at Wimbledon. Rafa has been playing well in 2019 and following his French Open win, the Spaniard should be confident. Nadal is amongst the greatest players to play tennis and I see him being too strong for Kyrgios.
