Pavlasek vs. Djokovic
|Date & Time||Thursday July 6, 2017, 9:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Pavlasek +2500 / Djokovic -7500 -- Over/Under:
Novak Djokovic and Adam Pavlasek meet in the second round of the 2017 Wimbledon.
Novak Djokovic is coming off a straight sets win over Martin Klizan that took 11 games to decide. In the victory, Djokovic won 87 percent of his first serve points and 50 percent of his second serve points. Djokovic didn’t have to break much of a sweat to win his opening match, which is never good for his upcoming opponent. Killeen retired in the second set after winning just 17 of 33 serve points and just eight of 33 return points. Djokovic has now won his last 10 sets played and has been really sharp on his return, making him a contender moving forward if he stays in this form. Djokovic has lost before the third round of a grand slam just once since 2009. Djokovic has won five straight matches on grass court.
Adam Pavlasek is coming off a four sets win over Ernesto Escobedo that took 36 games to decide. In the victory, Pavlasek won 84 percent of his first serve points and 52 percent of his second serve points. Pavlasek is coming off a nice win over a top-90 player, as he won 43 percent of his return points and dropped just 11 of 70 first serve points. Pavlasek has very little ATP experience and almost zero grand slam success, so a match against one of the best in the world is going to help his progress at 22 years old regardless of the outcome. Pavlasek has never made the third round of a grand slam in his career. Pavlasek has won three of his last four matches on grass court.
This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.
Pavlasek has just eight career matches under his belt for the main tour and has lost seven of them. There’s no way he’s going to beat a rested Djokovic in a grand slam match with no experience under his belt. It would easily be one of the biggest upsets in recent grand slam memory.
Djokovic in straight easy sets.
