Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

Novak Djokovic has made it through to the third round of the 2018 ATP Paris Masters Damir Džumhur.

Damir Džumhur had a big win in the second round as he beat the number 14 seed, Stefanos Tsitsipas, in straight sets. During that win, Damir Džumhur returned serve exceptionally well as he won close to 45% of the points played during Tsitsipas’s service games which allowed him to win 5 breakpoints. This tournament marks a return of form for Damir Džumhur as he had been on a run of 0-4 since the start of October. This match will be very challenging for Damir Džumhur as he is playing one of the best players in the world.

On the other side of the court, Novak Djokovic was dominant in his second round fixture as he won with ease. In that match, Djokovic only lost 1 service game while winning 4 return games to set up a comfortable win in straight sets. This is a big tournament for Novak Djokovic as he has an opportunity to regain top spot on the ATP rankings if he can make it further than Rafael Nadal. The Paris Masters have been very kind to Djokovic in the past as he has won event 4 times in the past. Djokovic has been in exceptional form since returning from injury as he has won Wimbledon, the US Open, the Cincinnati Master and the Shanghai Masters. With such a good record leading up to a favored venue, Novak Djokovic will be very hard to stop in this tournament.

This will be the first time that Damir Džumhur and Novak Djokovic will be playing each other at an ATP event.

All in all, I see Novak Djokovic winning. While it is fair to say that Damir Džumhur has played well at this event, he is no match for Djokovic. The world number 2 is playing on a different level when compared to most in the world and that is why I see Djokovic winning this match with ease.
