Defending champion, Novak Djokovic has made it into the fourth round of the 2020 Australian Open in Melbourne. At this stage of the tournament, Novak Djokovic is set to play against Diego Schwartzman from Argentina.

It has been a very strong tournament for Diego Schwartzman as he Argentine player is yet to drop a set. In the previous round, Diego Schwartzman defeated Dusan Lajovic in straight sets. During the win, Schwartzman impressed with his receiving as he won 48% of his receiving points which allowed him to break his opponent’s serve on 7 occasions. While the receiving was impressive, Diego Schwartzman struggled with his serving as he lost 4 service games. Diego Schwartzman must improve his serving if he wishes to compete with Novak Djokovic.

On the other side of the coin, Novak Djokovic has continued his outstanding record at the Australian Open by winning his previous outing in straight sets. It was a comfortable win for Novak Djokovic as he won all of his service games and 5 return games. The serving was especially strong from Novak Djokovic as he hit 17 aces which helped him win 87% of his service points. Djokovic has been incredible throughout his career at Melbourne Park and he is looking well placed to defend his title.

Novak Djokovic and Diego Schwartzman have played each other 3 times in the past with Djokovic winning on all 3 occasions. The most recent match between these two players was in 2019 at the Rome Masters where Novak Djokovic won in 3 sets.

Looking at this fixture, I am going to pick Novak Djokovic to win this match. Diego Schwartzman is heavily reliant on his receiving and I don’t see him having enough chances to break Djokovic’s serve. Novak Djokovic has been in outstanding form and I see him being good enough to win in straight sets.
