Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

The 2017 ATP Cincinnati Open champion, Grigor Dimitrov, will continue his title defense in the round of 16 as he takes on Serbian superstar, Novak Djokovic. These are two of the biggest names in men’s tennis and it will be exceptional to see them play against each other. This should be a great tennis match to watch.

Novak Djokovic will enter this match knowing that he has had the edge of Grigor Dimitrov in the past. In the 8 meetings, the Serbian has won 7 times. This is a dominant lead and it is something that Djokovic will gain confidence from. It has been a very a good few months for the Serbian master as he won Wimbledon. It seems like Djokovic is back to his best and that means that he is going to be extremely tough to beat. With the US Open starting very soon, Novak Djokovic will be keen to win this tournament so he has some momentum heading into Flushing Meadows.

Grigor Dimitrov, on the other hand, will not be too concerned with his record against Djokovic since most of the matches happened many years ago. The Bulgarian is a much-improved player and a very strong candidate on the hard courts of North America. This is a favorite venue for Grigor Dimitrov as he has already won this tournament and it seems like he plays much better in Cincinnati than in other venues around the world. Grigor Dimitrov was very dominant in his opening round win and it seems like he is very focused to win this tournament once again.

This is not an easy match to predict since both Novak Djokovic and Grigor Dimitrov are exceptional players. Either player could win but I am going to side with Grigor Dimitrov. The Bulgarian seems like a different player in Cincinnati and his 2017 win should give him enough confidence to win this match.

Grigor Dimitrov
