Janowicz vs. Djokovic

The Line: -- Over/Under:
Novak Djokovic and Jerzy Janowicz meet in the first round of the 2016 US Open.
Novak Djokovic has had a few weeks to rest and get his head straight since losing in the first round of the olympics to Juan Martin Del Potro. Djokovic has been dealing with minor injury concerns and has lost two of his last seven matches, which does raise an eyebrow for the top player in the world. Still, now isn’t the time to panic, as there are very few players on tour who can even compete with a healthy and motivated Djokovic, as his offense to defense is unmatched. Djokovic hasn’t lost in the first round of a grand slam since the 2006 Australian Open. Djokovic has won 20 of his last 22 matches on hard court.
Jerzy Janowicz hasn’t played in an ATP event since losing in the first round of the Australian Open to John Isner. Janowicz has fallen way out of the top-200 and has lost six of his last nine matches, which includes a quarterfinal loss to Clement Geens in the Meerbusch Challenger. It’s fair to say that this is a rough time for a guy who was just a top-15 player three years ago. Janowicz does have five wins over top-10 players but none since 2014. Janowicz has one home in the first round in his last three grand slam appearances. Janowicz has lost four straight matches on hard court.
These two have never met on the tennis court.
Janowicz won’t come close to stealing a set from Djokovic in this match, as the top player in the world gets to the second round without breaking a sweat.
This is easy work.
