Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

Serbian tennis superstar, Novak Djokovic will play João Sousa from Portugal in the second round of the 2018 ATP Paris Masters.

João Sousa enters this match having won his opening round fixture in straight sets against Marco Cecchinato from Italy. During that win, João Sousa served exceptionally well as he won over 75% of the points played during his serve which allowed his to win all of his service games. João Sousa has never made it past the second round of the Paris Masters and it is going to be tough once against as he is playing the world number 2 who is in exceptional form.

On the other side of the court, Novak Djokovic will know that if he wins this tournament, he will become world number 1 once again. Djokovic has been in outstanding form since returning from injury as he has won 3 out of his 4 tournaments. Since July, Novak Djokovic has won Wimbledon, the Cincinnati Masters, the US Open and the Shanghai Masters. In this time, Djokovic has also beaten all the other top players like Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer Marin Cilic, and Kevin Anderson. Djokovic has an exceptional record at the Paris Masters as he has won this event 4 times in the past. Djokovic missed the Paris Masters last season due to injury.

Novak Djokovic and João Sousa have played 5 times in the past with Djokovic winning on all 5 occasions. The most recent match was at the US Open this season where Novak Djokovic won in straight sets.

Taking everything into consideration, I can only see one winner and that is Novak Djokovic. Djokovic is a far better player and considering his recent form, I see him as the favorite to win this tournament. As far as this match is concerned, I see Djokovic winning with ease.
