Novak Djokovic vs John Isner 2018 ATP Finals Tennis Pick, Preview, Odds, Prediction

World number 1, Novak Djokovic, will play American superstar, John Isner, during the group stages of the 2018 ATP Finals in London,

John Isner enters this tournament after a poor Paris Masters campaign where the American was eliminated in the second round. It has been a tough few months for Isner as he has struggled to win return games. Since the end of the US Open, Isner has played 9 matches during which he has only won 6 return games. Such a record has made it very hard for Isner as it has put too much pressure on his serve. Such a problem will be hard to solve for Isner as Djokovic is a terrific server and it will be very hard for the American to win return games.

On the other side of the court, Novak Djokovic continued his dominance over the tennis world as he finished second at the Paris Masters last week. It was a disappointing loss in the final for Djokovic but considering his recent form, the second place finish will not be a cause for concern for the Serbian. Since his return from injury, Djokovic has won the US Open, Cincinnati Masters, Shanghai Masters, and Wimbledon titles. Heading into this event, Djokovic will be confident as he has won the Year-End Championship on 5 occasions. With all these points in his favor, I see Djokovic as the favorite to win not only this match but the entire tournament.

Novak Djokovic and John Isner have played 10 times in the past. Djokovic has the better head-to-head record of 8-2. The most recent match between these two players was in 2015 where Djokovic won in straight sets. The last time Isner beat Djokovic was at the Cincinnati Masters in 2013.

All in all, I am picking Novak Djokovic to win this match. Isner’s return game is simply too weak for him to compete against the world number 1. Djokovic is in better form and is a better player so I see him beating Isner in this match.
