Youzhny vs. Djokovic

The Line: -- Over/Under:
Novak Djokovic and Mikhail Youzhny meet in the third round of the 2016 US Open.
Novak Djokovic is coming off a walkover against Jiri Vesely due to him being forced to retire with an injury to his elbow. While I’m sure Djokovic would have loved to play, rest may be the best thing for him at the moment as he continues to nurse a questionable wrist injury. Considering he hasn't played a match now since Monday, Djokovic should be ready to go and as fresh as he's been in quite some time. A rested and healthy Djokovic is as dangerous of a player as you'll find. Djokovic has failed to make the fourth round of a grand slam just twice since 2009. Djokovic has won 10 of his last 11 matches on hard court.
Mikhail Youzhny is coming off a straight sets win over Guido Pella that took 28 games to decide. Youzhny has yet to drop a set this tournament and has lost just 13 games in his first two matches. Youzhny has had very little grand slam success over the course of his career, especially as he’s gotten older, but he’s showing there’s still something left in the tank at 34 years old and he should enter this match with some sort of confidence. Remember, Youzhny was a top-10 player at one point and is still a fighter on the tennis court. Youzhny hasn’t made the fourth round of a grand slam since the 2013 US Open. Youzhny has won six of his last nine matches on hard court.
These two have met nine times in the past and Djokovic has won six of those meetings. The most recent match was in the 2013 US Open, a match Djokovic won in four sets. Youzhny’s last win over Djokovic came in the 2010 Rotterdam Open.
You don’t pick lesser talented players to beat Djokovic. You certainly don’t pick against Djokovic when he’s had several days of rest. This match could get very ugly very quickly assuming his wrist holds up.
Give me Djokovic to advance with ease.
