Novak Djokovic and Roberto Bautista Agut meet in the fourth round of the 2016 French Open.
Novak Djokovic is coming off a straight sets win over Aljaz Bedene that took 31 games to decide. In the victory, Djokovic won 68 percent of his first serve points and 55 percent of his second serve points. Djokovic didn’t play his cleanest game ever in the third round victory, but he’s still won 25 of his last 30 sets. Djokovic has produced 68 winners in his last two matches and is winning no less than 67 percent of his first serve points. Of course, Djokovic is able to win matches even when he’s not playing great, which he proved in his last match. Djokovic has made the quarterfinals of every grand slam appearance since the 2009 Wimbledon.
Roberto Bautista Agut is coming off a straight sets win over Borna Coric that took 26 games to decide. In the victory, Bautista Agut won 81 percent of his first serve points and 45 percent of his second serve points. Bautista Agut has yet to drop a set this tournament and has won no less than 73 percent of his first serve points. Bautista Agut has to be a confident player right now after winning 15 of his last 20 sets and hitting 82 winners in his last two matches. Bautista Agut gives himself a chance at the upset if he can play this consistent against the top player in the world. Bautista Agut has five career wins over top-10 players and two of them came this year. Bautista Agut hopes to make his first career grand slam quarterfinal. This is the fourth straight time Bautista Agut has made the fourth round of a grand slam.
These two have met four times in the past, and Djokovic has won all four meetings, three of which were decided in straight sets. The most recent match was in this year's Madrid Masters. This will be the second time these two play on clay court.
There’s just no reason to even try betting against Djokovic, as it’s not going to end well. Even when he plays subpar, it’s still a struggle to win a set against him. Not to mention the head to head doesn’t give Bautista Agut much hope.
Djokovic in another three setter.
