Novak Djokovic has eased into the second round of the 2020 Australian Open in Melbourne. At this stage of the tournament, Djokovic will play against Tatsuma Ito from Japan.

Tatsuma Ito played well in the opening round as he won his match in straight sets. It was an impressive display by Ito with the Japanese player impressing with his receiving. Tatsuma Ito won 43% of his receiving points which allowed him to break his opponent’s serve on 5 occasions. The serving was also solid from Tatsuma Ito as he won over 90% of his service games. It has been a good tournament for Tatsuma Ito but he must produce his best tennis if he wishes to compete with Novak Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic is the defending champion and the number 2 seed. It has been an outstanding start to 2020 for Djokovic as he led Team Serbia to the ATP Cup. Djokovic defeated the likes of Rafael Nadal, Daniil Medvedev, and Kevin Anderson at the ATP Cup. The good form continued in the opening round where Novak Djokovic defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets. The receiving was especially strong from Novak Djokovic as he won 46% of his receiving points which allowed him to break his opponent’s serve on 7 occasions. The Australian Open has been an outstanding tournament for Novak Djokovic and he will be optimistic about winning the tournament again.

This will be the first time that Novak Djokovic and Tatsuma Ito will be playing each other at an ATP event.

Tatsuma Ito is a solid player but he isn’t at the level where he can compete with Novak Djokovic. Djokovic has been in incredible form and he is playing at a level where he easily defeated Rafael Nadal. Novak Djokovic has an outstanding record at Melbourne Park and I see him being good enough to win this match in straight sets.
