Pablo Cuevas meets Albert-Ramos Vinolas in the second-round of the 2020 Buenos Aires Open.
Pablo Cuevas played some good tennis in Cordoba last week but eventually lost the the champion. Cuevas is a highly experienced clay-court player and always entertains the crowd. Cuevas is towards the latter end of his career, but it does not mean he cannot pose a threat, especially on a clay court. It will be interesting to see how his 2020 season will pan out.
Albert Ramos-Vinolas has really gone under the radar in the last few months. Ramos-Vinolas will have to increase his level if he wants to challenge again in tournaments, but he has a lot of experience so he can hang on until then. ARV can pose a threat here in Buenos Aires, he just needs to be consistent.
This will be the 9th meeting between these two, with Pablo Cuevas winning 7 of the 8 prior meetings. Cuevas is the better player at the moment, he had a better start to 2020, and is a clay-court specialist. Cuevas might struggle to win it in straight sets, but I think he will win in 3.
Cuevas to win.
