Petra Kvitova and Darya Kasatkina meet in the quarterfinals of the 2018 tennis Madrid Masters.

Petra Kvitova is coming off a straight sets win over Anett Kontaveit that took 31 games to decide. In the victory, Kvitova won 70 percent of her first serve points and 65 percent of her second serve points. Kvitova won 68 percent of her total service points, gave herself 17 break chances and managed to bounce back after losing a tough first set tiebreak. An overall really impressive performance from Kvitova and one that should inspire confidence moving forward. Kvitova has a shot to reach the semifinal of a Premier Mandatory for the third time since 2016. Kvitova hopes to make the semifinals of the Madrid Masters for the fourth time in her career. Kvitova has won eight straight matches on clay court.

Darya Kasatkina is coming off a three sets win over Garbine Muguruza that took 27 games to decide. In the victory, Kasatkina won 64 percent of her first serve points and 48 percent of her second serve points. Kasatkina is coming off possibly the biggest win of her young career in which she won 49 percent of her return points and gave herself 19 break chances. Kasatkina continues what has been a breakout year for the 20-year-old, as she now has six wins over top-10 player this year alone. Clay has often been a comfortable surface for Kasatkina due to her doubles background, and if can stay in this form, she has a shot at winning the biggest tournament of her career. Kasatkina has a chance to make her second carer semifinal appearance in a Premier Mandatory. Kasatkina has won five of her last seven matches on clay court.

These two have never played each other on the tennis court.

This is a tough match to predict, as Kvitova obviously has the experience edge and has the power game to hit through the young Russian. However, Kasatkina is playing her best tennis this year and continues to find ways to get the job done despite the name across from her. Kasatkina is hitting her spots, playing with confidence and returning at a high level.

Hard to bet against Kasatkina at the moment.
