Petra Kvitova vs Naomi Osaka - 01/26/19 WTA Tour - Australian Open Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

Czech superstar, Petra Kvitova will face Naomi Osaka in the final of the 2019 WTA Australian Open.

It has been an exceptional few months for Naomi Osaka as she has made it into her 2nd successive Grand Slam final. Osaka won the US Open last season and has been playing exceptionally well since that victory. In her previous match, Naomi Osaka won in 3 sets against Karolina Pliskova. It was a solid performance by Osaka as she won 85% of her service games while winning 2 return games. Osaka looks high on confidence and she will be tough to beat.

On the other side of the coin, Petra Kvitova has also been in exceptional form. Kvitova had a simply semifinal match as she beat Danielle Rose Collins in straight sets. During the win, Kvitova returned exceptionally well as she won 43% of her return points. Kvitova won 4 return games to win her match comfortably.  Petra Kvitova is a very accomplished player and she has won 2 Grand Slam titles. Kvitova’s last Grand Slam win was at Wimbledon in 2014. This match will be a challenge for Kvitova but considering her form and experience, she will be confident that she can beat Osaka.

This will be the first time that Petra Kvitova and Naomi Osaka will be playing each other at a WTA event.

This will be a very close match as both Osaka and Kvitova are very accomplished, very skilled and in good form. As far as predicting a winner is concerned, I am going to pick Petra Kvitova to win this match. Kvitova has looked in better form while Osaka has had to fight much harder. Kvitova is playing exceptionally well and is yet to lose a set in this tournament. With that in mind, I see Petra Kvitova winning her 3rd Grand Slam title.
