We have reached the quarterfinals of the 2019 WTA Dubai Tennis Championships where Czech superstar, Petra Kvitova will play against Viktória Kužmová from Slovakia.
Viktória Kužmová enters this match in top form as she beat Kiki Bertens in the second round while defeating Sofia Kenin in the previous match. In the match against Kenin, Viktória Kužmová fought extremely well as she lost the opening set but managed to win the final 2 to gain the overall victory. During the win, Kužmová returned serve exceptionally well as she won almost 50% of her return points which allowed her to break Kenin’s serve on 6 occasions. It is important to note that Viktória Kužmová had her own issues while serving as the Slovak lost 5 service games during the win. This match is expected to be a much tougher challenge for Viktória Kužmová as she is playing the number 2 seed.
Petra Kvitova enters this match having won her previous fixture in 3 sets. It was a relatively dominant win for Kvitova as she 79% of her service games while breaking serve on 3 occasions. It has been a very strong 2019 season for Petra Kvitova as she won the Sydney International and finished second at the Australian Open. Kvitova is a hugely experienced player having won 26 WTA titles so she will be confident as she enters this fixture.
This will be the first time that Petra Kvitova and Viktória Kužmová will be playing each other at a WTA event.
Viktória Kužmová has impressed during this tournament by beating Sofia Kenin and Kiki Bertens but I see her tournament ending after this match. Petra Kvitova is a much more accomplished player and is in very good form following her tournaments in Australia. With that in mind, I see Petra Kvitova winning this match.
