Petra Martic will meet Su-Wei Hsieh in the first-round of the 2020 WTA Dubai Open.
Petra Martic had a tough 2019 season, and unfortunately she has not been able to find consistency in her game. Martic is a strong player, she is tall, and she has a great serve, but confidence issues have made her game inconsistent as of recent. Martic will need to put in the hard-work and hours to improve her game and mentality and I am sure that if she does she will see her results improving. Petra Martic has a lot of experience and this experience might also help her initially in 2020. It will be interesting to see how her 2020 season pans out.
Su-Wei Hsieh is one of the more experienced players on tour. Hsieh is a very unorthodox player who has had a lot of success in the Doubles scene. Hsieh can move the ball in ways other players cannot. I strongly believe that Hsieh could have been one of the main players on the Singles tour if she hadn't focused on Doubles, but it is great to see her do both in the last few years. Hsieh is able to challenge anyone on tour and she will fancy her chances here in Dubai.
These two players have met 3 times before, with Hsieh leading the H2H 2-1. This will be an incredibly tight match as both players struggle with consistency and have not played much recently. I believe that Martic is more motivated to go further in Singles compared to Hsieh and therefore, if push comes to shove, Martic will eventually win this match.
Petra Martic to win.
