The Line: -- Over/Under:
Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Filip Krajinovic meet in the semifinals of the 2019 tennis Hungarian.
Pierre-Hugues Herbert is coming off a straight sets win over Attila Balazs that took 19 games to decide. In the victory, Herbert won 88 percent of his first serve points and 57 percent of his second serve points. Herbert won 76 percent of his total service points and converted on two of his four break points. Herbert has won all six sets this tournament and is coming off a performance in which he lost just four of 34 first set points. Herbert has quietly been one of the more consistent players on the men’s side these past couple of weeks. Herbert has a chance to win four straight matches for the first time since Montpellier in February. Herbert hopes to make his second final appearance of the year and his fourth of his career. Herbert has won seven of his last 10 matches on clay court.
Filip Krajinovic is coming off a straight sets win over Borna Coric that took 22 games to decide. In the victory, Krajinovic won 59 percent of his first serve points and 62 percent of his second serve points. Krajinovic won 60 percent of his total service points and converted on four of his 10 break points. Krajinovic has won six of his seven sets this tournament and has produced a combined 13 breaks during that span. While Krajinovic has won 14 of his last 17 matches when you include qualifying and challenger play, success on the main tour for the 27-year-old has been rare to say the last. Krajinovic has a chance to win four straight matches on the main tour for the first time since Paris of 2017. Krajinovic also hopes to make his second career final appearance and first since the 2017 Paris Masters. Krajinovic has won nine of his last 10 matches on clay court.
These two have played once, which was this year in Miami, a match Krajinovic won in straight sets. The match was decided in 20 games.
Krajinovic won the only meeting comfortably just last month and has been on a role overall, even if you don’t put much stock into qualifying and challenger matches. Krajinovic is winning and building confidence. With that said, Herbert has been the more consistent player on the main stage these past few weeks and has been dominating his opponents for the most part. I also question experience in big matches, as Krajinovic has only one final appearance under his belt. Nerves could be an issue if this match is tight.
I like Herbert to advance to the final.
