Rafael Nadal vs Filip Krajinović - 3/13/19 ATP Tour - Indian Wells Open Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Rafael Nadal has made it into the third round of the 2019 ATP Indian Wells Open. At this stage of the tournament, Rafa will compete for a spot in the quarterfinals against Filip Krajinović from Serbia.

Filip Krajinović had a big win in the previous round as he beat the number 14 seed, Daniil Medvedev. During the win, Filip Krajinović served exceptionally well as he won 71% of the points played during his serve. Filip Krajinović won all of his service games and broke Daniil Medvedev’s serve on 3 occasions to set up an easy win. Filip Krajinović will be high on confidence as he has beaten 2 seeded players in this tournament. That being said, Rafa will be a much tougher test for Krajinović and the Serb will have to be at his wants to compete.

On the other side of the coin, Rafa Nadal also had an easy win in the previous round as he beat Diego Schwartzman in straight sets. Nadal won all of his service games and broke his opponent’s serve on 4 occasions. Nadal’s serving was particularly impressive as he won 77% of his service points against a world-class receiver in Schwartzman. Nadal has a very strong record at Indian Wells as he has won this title 3 times in the past. With such a strong record at Indian Wells and such strong form in recent matches, Rafael Nadal will be very hard to beat.

This will be the first time that Rafael Nadal and  Filip Krajinović will be playing each other.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Rafa to win this match. Rafa has a very good record at this tournament and looks in good form. Filip Krajinović, on the other hand, is a far less accomplished player. Nadal is the stronger player and I see him securing a spot in the quarterfinals.

Pick:
Rafael Nadal
