Spanish tennis superstar, Rafael Nadal has made it into the quarterfinals of the 2019 ATP Barcelona Open in Spain. Rafa will now face Jan-Lennard Struff from Germany.
Rafael Nadal had a solid win in the previous round as the Spaniard eliminated David Ferrer from the tournament. It was a complete performance by Rafa as he won in straight sets. During the win, Rafael Nadal impressed with his serving. Nadal won 63% of his service points which allowed him to win 89% of his service games. Nadal also won 4 break points to sum up a very good victory. Nadal is the reigning champion at the Barcelona Open and the Spaniard has won this title multiple times in the past. Considering Nadal’s history at this venue and his current form, the Spaniard will be very tough to beat.
On the other side of the coin, Jan-Lennard Struff had a solid win in the previous round as the German eliminated Stefanos Tsitsipas. It was a close contest where Struff lost the middle set but fought hard to get the outright win. The win will be very satisfying for Jan-Lennard Struff as it was against the number 5 seed. That being said, this is expected to be a far tougher match for Struff as he is playing against the top seed.
This will be the first time that Rafael Nadal and Jan-Lennard Struff will be playing each other at an ATP event.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Rafael Nadal to win this match. Struff has looked good during this tournament but the German is a power player and his style of play will make it tough for him to compete against an athletic all-rounder like Nadal, especially on clay. Nadal is the stronger player and I see him winning this match.
