Rafael Nadal and John Millman meet in the first round of the 2017 Wimbledon.

Rafael Nadal hasn’t played a match since winning the French Open and will play his first Wimbledon match since 2015. Nadal is 46-3 this season on the main tour and is coming off one of the best tennis performances ever in which he lost just 35 games to win his 15th grand slam title. Nadal obviously isn’t the same player on grass as he is on clay, but his form overall this season has been damn near flawless, which makes him a serious contender to make a deep Wimbledon run for the first time in years. Nadal has lost in the first round of a grand slam twice since 2013. Nadal has won five of his last seven matches on grass court.

John Millman has played just one match on the main tour this season, but he does have six grass court matches under his belt. Millman has dropped outside of the top-100 after being a top-60 player a little over a year ago and was also battling a hip injury that knocked him out of the Brisbane International. Millman is simply trying to find his form, so I’m sure he’ll take anything positive to come out of this match. Millman hopes to make the second round of a grand slam for the fourth time in his career. Millman has never lost in the first round of the Wimbledon. Millman has split his last eight matches on grass court.

This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.

Millman simply doesn’t have the matches under his belt this season to hang with a rested Nadal who has been in terrific form all year. This just isn’t a fair match for Millman, who is just trying to get his feet wet and get back in the swing of things.

This is arguably the most lopsided opening round match, as Nadal wins in three east sets.
