Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

Richard Gasquet had a very disappointing Wimbledon campaign as the French superstar was knocked out by fellow countryman, Gael Monfils. That being said, it has still been a good 2018 for the former world number 7 as he has managed to win some titles and had some deep runs in other tournaments. Gasquet will look to have another deep run as he is playing the Swedish Open where he is ranked as the 4th best players. He will be taking on Gerald Melzer from Austria in the round of 16.

Gerald Melzer failed to make it to Wimbledon and followed that by losing in the opening round at a Challenger tournament. These results must improve for the Austrian and he showed good signs in his opening round clash as he managed to win in straight sets, only dropping 2 games in total. The first round win showed the potential of the Austrian player and he will need to further improve on that if he wishes to beat Richard Gasquet.

Looking at Richard Gasquet, it seems like the Frenchman has lost his speed. This is understandable at his age but to compete he will need to be able to play smarter tennis. Gasquet is one of the sweetest stroke makers the world has ever seen and if he can play in a style where he can dominate the play, he should do well. That is most likely what is going to happen in this game and as a result, I see Richard Gasquet doing very well.

All in all, I see only one result which is a win for Richard Gasquet. The Frenchman is a class above Gerald Melzer and I think he will show that in this match. We are getting a great price to wager on Richard Gasquet winning this match so that is the wager which I am going to suggest that we make.
