Tomic vs. Bautista Agut
|Date & Time||Saturday July 2, 2016, 9:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line -- Over/Under:
Roberto Bautista Agut and Bernard Tomic square off early in the third round of the 2016 Wimbledon.
Roberto Bautista Agut is coming off a walkover victory over Mikhail Kukushkin. Bautista Agut has just had to play an hour and a half of tennis to get to this point. Bautista Agut cruised in his first round match and was able to win 75 percent of his first serve points. Bautista Agut seems to be in good form overall, especially after making the fourth round of the French Open. As long as Bautista Agut continues to serve well, he should be in good shape moving forward. Bautista Agut looks to reach the fourth round of a grand slam for the fifth straight time. Bautista Agut has won seven of his last nine matches on grass.
Bernard Tomic is coming off a four set win over Radu Albot that took nearly three hours to finish. In the victory, Tomic won 75 of 102 first serve points and racked up 66 winners and 54 unforced errors. Tomic has played more than five hours of tennis and nine sets overall to get to this point. While fatigue won’t be on his side, Tomic has produced 32 aces and 119 winners in his first two matches. If Tomic is hitting his winners, he’s capable of making a surprise tournament run. Tomic looks to reach the fourth round of a grand slam for the third time since 2014. Tomic has won six of his last eight matches on grass.
This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.
It’s kind of surprising these guys haven’t played each other when you consider they’re both top-20 players. However, when it’s all said and done, Bautista Agut does have the edge due to the rest factor. Both these guys hit the ball well and are in solid form, but the fact Bautista Agut didn’t have to play a second round match, he has the advantage.
Give me Bautista Agut in four sets.
