In the victory, Bautista Agut won 85 percent of his first serve points and 73 percent of his second serve points. Bautista Agut has yet to drop a set this tournament and is coming off a match in which he won 44 of 55 service points. Bautista Agut has been lights out with his service game overall this tournament and is going to be extremely tough to beat if those percentages continue. Bautista Agut has lost his last three semifinal appearances. Bautista Agut hopes to make his second final appearance of the season and his 12th of his career. Bautista Agut has won six of his last eight matches on hard court.
Jan-Lennard Struff is coming off a straight sets win over Borna Coric that took 23 games to decide. In the victory, Struff won 91 percent of his first serve points and 61 percent of his second serve points. Struff is coming off an impressive performance in which he beat a top-50 player and won 76 percent of his total service points. Struff seems to be getting better and more confident with each match, and he’s fresh off a performance in which he wasn’t broken once. Struff has won his last five semifinal appearances when you include challenger play. Struff hopes to make his first ever ATP final appearance. Struff has won six of his last seven matches on hard court.
These two have played once, which was in this years Barcelona Open, a match Bautista Agut won in straight sets. The match took 16 games to decide.
Give Struff credit for getting this far and having one of his better performances on the ATP stage, but this is about the time Cinderella’s lose. Not to mention Bautista Agut is playing some really impressive tennis, which includes top level serving. For a guy who has had little to no success on this stage, Struff is in over his head here. Not to mention the previous match between these two wasn’t competitive at all.
Bautista Agut reaches the final.
