The Line: -- Over/Under:
Spanish tennis player Roberto Bautista Agut has made it into the third round at the 2019 WTA Rogers Cup in Montreal. Roberto Bautista Agut will now play against Richard Gasquet for a place in the quarterfinals.
Richard Gasquet had a big win in the previous round as he defeated Kei Nishikori from Japan. Gasquet was very impressive during the match as he lost the opening set but fought back strongly to win in the final 2 sets. During the win, Richard Gasquet received serve exceptionally well as he won 42% of his receiving points which allowed him to break Kei Nishikori’s serve on 5 occasions. The serving was solid from Gasquet as he won 82% of his service games. Gasquet held his nerve well during the match as he secured the victory by winning a tiebreaker in the final set.
On the other side of the coin, Roberto Bautista Agut had a simple victory as he defeated Diego Schwartzman in straight sets. Agut was also very impressive while receiving serve as he won 52% of his receiving points which allowed him to win 50% of his receiving games. Roberto Bautista Agut also won 80% of his service games which ensured it was a comfortable match for the Spaniard. Roberto Bautista Agut has been in outstanding form as he made the semifinals at Wimbledon. Agut looks very confident and that will make his tough to beat.
Roberto Bautista Agut and Richard Gasquet have played each other 4 times in the past. As it currently stands, Agut has won on 3 occasions while Gasquet has only won once. The most recent match between these two players was earlier in the season at the Halle Open where Roberto Bautista Agut won in straight sets. Richard Gasquet’s win over Roberto Bautista Agut was in 2015.
Looking at all the information, I am going to pick Roberto Bautista Agut to win this match. While Gasquet has looked good in this tournament, I don’t see him having enough to beat Agut. Roberto Bautista Agut has been in outstanding form over the past few months and the Spaniard has elevated himself to an elite level. Roberto Bautista Agut is playing with a lot of confidence and I see him being too good for Richard Gasquet in this match.
