Swiss tennis master, Roger Federer has made it into the third round of the 2019 ATP French Open in Paris. At this stage of the tournament, Federer will play against Casper from Norway.

It has been a good tournament for Casper Ruud as he has won both matches in straight sets. In the previous round of the tournament, Casper Ruud eliminated the number 29 seed, Matteo Berrettini. During the win, Ruud served exceptionally well. Ruud won 71% of his service points which allowed him to 94% of his service games. In addition to that, Casper Ruud also won 4 return games. Ruud has had a good few weeks as he played well at the Italian Open and finished second at the ATP Houston tournament. With that in mind, this is expected to be an incredibly tough match for Ruud as he is playing against the number 3 seed.

On the other side of the court, Roger Federer is looking very solid. Federer defeated Oscar Otte in straight sets in the previous round. It was a very simple match for the Swiss master as Federer won all of his service games and 3 return games. Leading into this tournament, Federer looked rusty as he had been missing from the clay court scene for a few seasons. With the Italian Open and Madrid Open under his belt, Federer looks to be back to his best which makes him a very real chance of winning the title. Roger Federer won the French Open in 2009 so he has a good record at this venue.

This will be the first time that Roger Federer and Casper Ruud will be playing each other at an ATP event. It is important to note that Casper Ruud is only 20 and is very new to the ATP tour.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Roger Federer to win this match. Casper Ruud is a very exciting prospect but the Norwegian lacks the experience and skills required to compete with Federer. Federer has been in good form throughout the tournament and I see him winning this match with some ease.
