Swiss tennis master, Roger Federer will start his 2019 Wimbledon campaign against Lloyd Harris from South Africa.
Roger Federer started his grass court season in outstanding style as he won the Halle Open. In the final, Roger Federer defeated David Goffin in straight sets. Federer served extremely well during the final as he won 75% of his service points which allowed him to win all of his service games. Prior to the start of the grass court season, Federer played the French Open where he made the semifinals.
Roger Federer has an outstanding record at Wimbledon as he has won the title on 8 occasions. Federer has won 89% of his matches at Wimbledon and his most recent title win for in 2017. It seems like Roger Federer is always at his best on grass as the Swiss superstar has won 19 titles on this surface.
Considering his record, his ability, and his current form, Roger Federer will be very tough to defeat in this tournament.
On the other side of the coin, Lloyd Harris has not been playing well in recent months. Harris attempted to qualify for both the Eastbourne International and Halle Open but the South African failed on both occasions. Since the start of 2017, Lloyd Harris has only won one match on grass. This will be the first time that Lloyd Harris will be playing at Wimbledon. Harris has a poor record on grass and it will be tough for him to compete against the number 2 seed.
This will be the first time that Lloyd Harris and Roger Federer will play each other at an ATP event.
Lloyd Harris is only 22 and he has great potential to establish himself as a regular on the ATP circuit. That being said, I see Harris losing this match. Roger Federer has been in outstanding form and the Swiss superstar enters this tournament having just won the Halle Open. Federer has been incredible on grass over the past few seasons and I see him being too strong Lloyd Harris. I see Roger Federer winning this match in straight sets.
