In the 2019 ATP Finals, Roger Federer is set to play against Matteo Berrettini from Italy.

Matteo Berrettini had a very poor start to the tournament as he was beaten in straight sets by Novak Djokovic. While the result was expected, Berrettini lacked fight as he only managed to win 3 games in the entire match. The serving was especially poor as Matteo Berrettini only won 42% of his service points which resulted in him losing 5 service games. With the tournament field into consideration, Matteo Berrettini must improve his serving if he wishes to compete.

On the other side of the coin, Roger Federer also lost his previous match in straight sets to Dominic Thiem. It was a close match where Federer lost vital points to concede the result. Federer lost 3 service games which allowed Dominic Thiem to take advantage in both sets. In general, Roger Federer played well as he won 1 return game and 75% of his service games. The Swiss superstar is hugely experienced as he has won the ATP Finals on 6 occasions. Considering his record at this tournament, I am expecting Roger Federer to bounce back strongly in this match.

Roger Federer and Matteo Berrettini have played each other once in the past. The match was played earlier in the season at Wimbledon where Roger Federer won in straight sets. It was a dominant victory for Roger Federer as he only lost 5 games in the entire match.

Matteo Berrettini has had an outstanding season but he seems to be out of his depth at this event. Berrettini was demolished during his opening game and this is expected to be a similar type of match. While Roger Federer lost his opening fixture, he has looked in decent form and I see him having enough quality to win this match with some ease.
