The Line: -- Over/Under:
Roger Federer and Mischa Zverev meet in the third round of the 2017 Wimbledon.
Roger Federer is coming off a straight sets win over Dusan Lajovic that took 30 games to decide. In the victory, Federer won 81 percent of his first serve points and 81 percent of his second serve points. Federer has now won his last seven matches in straight sets and is coming off a match in which his opponent won just 19 percent of his return points. Like I said before, if Federer can continue to serve at such an elite level, this is his tournament to lose given his return ability always bing high quality. Federer hopes to make the fourth round of a grand slam for the seventh straight time. Federer hasn’t lost before he fourth round of the Wimbledon since 2004. Federer has won seven straight matches on grass court.
Mischa Zverev is coming off a five sets win over Mikhail Kukushkin that took 42 games to decide. In the victory, Zverev won 69 percent of his first serve points and 37 percent of his second serve points. Zverev had to play five sets despite winning the first two sets and winning 44 percent of his return points. Zverev has hit 99 winners in his first two matches, and that shotmaking ability should give him some confidence heading into this match. However, Zverev has to be much more effective with his second serve to have a chance at an upset. Zverev hopes to make the fourth round of a grand slam for a second time in his career. Zverev has won seven of his last 10 matches on grass court.
These two have played four times and Federer has won all four meetings in straight sets. The most recent match was in this years Halle Open, and Federer won in 23 games. This will be the third meeting on grass.
Zverev has zero previous success against Federer, and it’s hard seeing that change given the way Roger has played this season. Zverev hasn’t been able to win many points on his second serve and that will be his downfall agains a player like Federer.
Roger wins this match in straight sets like all of his other matches against Zverev.
