Roger Federer will take on Nick Kyrgios at the 2018 Laver Cup.

Roger Federer played a doubles match on day 1 where he lost alongside Novak Djokovic to the team comprised of Jack Sock and Kevin Anderson. While the defeat was disappointing, it is important to note that neither Djokovic or Federer is not usually playing doubles tennis and the lack of experience cost the team. Roger Federer is has been in good form recently as he came second at the Cincinnati Masters a few weeks ago. Federer was struggling with the heat at the US Open which cost him his match but with this tournament set to be indoors, Federer is expected to be back to his best. It is important to note that Roger Federer beat Nick Kyrgios at the US Open in a match where the Swiss Master dominated to win in straight sets. Roger Federer has never lost a singles match at the Laver Cup and he will be tough to beat once again.

On the other side of the court, Nick Kyrgios enters this match having had a poor few months. Nick Kyrgios has struggled with issues such as injury and that has cost his wins on many occasions. It is still unclear whether Nick Kyrgios is 100% fit although he looked very sharp while practicing. Historically, Nick Kyrgios has done very poorly against Roger Federer with the image of Federer beating the Australian to seal the tie at the Laver Cup 12 months ago sharp in the minds of tennis fans. Roger Federer has won the past 5 times these two have met and that will make it very tough for Nick Kyrgios to get over the barrier that is the Swiss master.

All in all, I see Roger Federer continuing his dominance over Nick Kyrgios. Federer is the better player and with the factor of heat not impacting the Swiss master, I see him winning with ease.
