R. Federer +550 / R. Nadal -901
Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will play each other in the semifinals of the 2019 ATP French Open.
Rafael Nadal had a modest start to the clay court season as he lost his titles at the Monte Carlo Masters and Barcelona Open. Many questions were being asked about whether Nadal was still the best on clay but the Spaniard managed to silence many critics by winning the Italian Open and playing well at this event. In the previous round, Rafael Nadal defeated Kei Nishikori in straight sets. It was a dominant display by Nadal as he only lost 5 games in the entire match. During the win, Nadal received serve exceptionally well. Rafa won 54% of his receiving points which allowed him to break Kei Nishikori’s serve on 7 occasions. Nadal also served well as he only lost 1 service game in the entire match. The competition will be tougher for Nadal in this match but the Spaniard will be confident in his ability to defeat Roger Federer.
On the other side of the coin, Roger Federer defeated Stan Wawrinka in 4 sets in the previous round. It was a close match with Federer winning 2 sets via tiebreakers. The serving was very impressive from Federer during the win as he hit 8 aces and won 70% of his service points. Federer only lost 2 service games in during his win which was a vital reason for his victory. This is going to be a much tougher match for Federer as he is playing Rafa on clay.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have had a long history and have played each other in some of the biggest tennis matches in history. In total, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have played each other 38 times. Federer has won on 15 occasions while Nadal has won 23 times. On clay, Federer has won twice while Nadal has won 13 times.
Both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are tremendous players and this will definitely be a very impressive tennis match. As far as a winner is concerned, I am going pick Rafael Nadal to win. Federer is a very good player and has had a top tournament but I don’t see him being able to defeat Nadal on clay. Nadal has won the French Open 11 times and I see him eliminating Federer from this tournament.
