Roger Federer vs Stefanos Tsitsipas - 01/20/19 ATP Tour - Australian Open Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Danielle Parhizkaran-USA TODAY Sports

Swiss tennis legend, Roger Federer has made it into the fourth round of the 2019 ATP Australian Open. Roger Federer is now set to face the number 14 seed from Greece, Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Stefanos Tsitsipas had a big win in the previous round as he eliminated the number 19 seed, Nikoloz Basilashvili. During the win, Stefanos Tsitsipas served exceptionally well as he hit 18 aces while winning 70% of his service points. Stefanos Tsitsipas ended the 2018 season strongly as he won the ATP Next Gen Finals. It seems that Tsitsipas has continued his good form in 2019 as he played well at the Brisbane International and in the first three rounds of this tournament. This is expected to be a very tough match for Stefanos Tsitsipas but considering his recent form, the Greek superstar will hope to cause Federer some issues.

On the other side of the court, Roger Federer won beat Taylor Fritz in his previous game. It was a comfortable win for Federer as he won in straight sets. During the win, Federer won all of his service games while breaking Taylor Fritz’s serve on 5 occasions. Roger Federer has won the Australian Open multiple times in the past and if the currently the reigning champion. With form and history on his side, Roger Federer will be very hard to stop in this tournament.

Roger Federer and Stefanos Tsitsipas have played once in the past. The match was played a few weeks ago at the Hopman Cup where Roger Federer won in straight sets.

All in all, I see Roger Federer winning this match. While Stefanos Tsitsipas has been in good form, he lacks the experience of playing at such a late stage of an Australian Open. Federer recently beat Stefanos Tsitsipas and I see the Swiss Master beating the Greek youngster once again.
