Sam Querrey and John Millman meet in the third round of the 2019 tennis Wimbledon.

Sam Querrey is coming off a straight sets win over Andrey Rublev that took 26 games to decide. In the victory, Querrey won 85 percent of his first serve points and 48 percent of his second serve points. Querrey won 73 percent of his total service points and converted on five of his 13 break points. Querrey got 68 percent of his first serves in play, saved all five break points and hit 26 aces. While Querrey lacks real grand slam success, he’s going to be a serious problem sending home if he continues to pile up that many free points with his serve. Querrey hopes to make his fourth grand slam fourth round appearance since 2011. Querrey can make the fourth round of Wimbledon for the third time in the last four years. Querrey has won six of his last seven matches on grass court.

John Millman is coming off a straight sets win over Laslo Djere that took 24 games to decide. In the victory, Millman won 75 percent of his first serve points and 56 percent of his second serve points. Millman won 67 percent of his total service points and converted on seven of his 16 break points. Millman got 61 percent of his first serves in play and saved seven of his eight break points. Millman has back-to-back wins on the main tour for the first time since Acapulco, so you could make a case that this tournament is already a success for the 30-year-old Australian. Winning all six sets, Millman has to be feeling as good as he’s felt all year given his struggles. Millman hopes to make his second career grand slam fourth round appearance and first in the Wimbledon. Millman has split his last four matches on grass court.

Querrey won the two previous matches, which were 2014 challenger meetings and took place on hard court.

Give credit to Millman for putting together back-to-back winning efforts, but it takes more than that for me to forget the year he’s had. Querrey entered this tournament hot with the success he had in Eastbourne, and he’s going to be a problem if he continues to dominate his service game. Querrey has the talent to where he should be making consistent deep runs in tournaments like this and it just hasn’t happened for whatever reason.

Well, Querrey makes a rare grand slam fourth round trip.
