The Line: -- Over/Under:
Serena Williams and Agnieszka Radwanska meet in the semifinal of the 2016 Australian Open.
Serena Williams is coming off a straight sets win over Maria Sharapova and hasn’t dropped a set all tournament. Serena is getting at least 52 percent of her first serves in play and is winning no less than 73 percent of those points. Serena has racked up 50 winners in her last two matches and has had no more than 22 unforced errors all tournament. Serena has gotten to this point without really being tested and is coming off a match in which she had 13 aces. This dialed in version of Serena is going to be tough to beat. Serena has lost in the semifinal of a grand slam just once since 2010. Serena has never lost in the semifinal of the Australian Open.
Agnieszka Radwanska is coming off a straight sets win over Carla Suárez Navarro and has lost one set this tournament. Radwanska is getting at least 58 percent of her first serves in play and is winning no less than 64 percent of those points. Radwanska has produced 46 winners in her last two matches and has had 14 or less unforced errors in four of her five matches. Radwanska gives herself a shot against anyone if she continues to limit her unforced errors. Radwanska has now won 13 straight matches dating back to the WTA Championships. Radwanska has lost in the semifinal of a grand slam three times since 2013. Radwanska's only grand slam final appearance was the 2012 Wimbledon.
These two have played eight times in the past, and Serena has won all eight meetings. The most recent match was in the 2013 WTA Championships, a match Serena won in straight sets. Radwanska has managed to win just one set against Serena in all of their meetings. This will be the sixth time Radwanska and Serena meet on hard court.
Radwanska should be confident despite her history against Serena, as she may be playing her best tennis of her career at the moment. However, there’s a few rules in sports, and one of them is you don’t bet against Serena in a major.
Serena reaches yet another final.
