Serena Williams vs Dayana Yastremska - 01/19/19 WTA Tour - Australian Open Pick, Odds, and Prediction

23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena William has made it into the third round of the 2019 WTA Australian Open. Serena will now face Dayana Yastremska from Ukraine.

Serena Williams continued her strong Australian Open campaign in the second round as she beat Eugenie Bouchard in straight sets. It was a dominant display by Serena as she returned serve exceptionally well. In the win, Serena Williams won over 60% of her receiving points which allowed her to win 75% of her return games. In addition to receiving well, Serena also served exceptionally well as she won 65% of her service points. Serena has an exceptional record at the Australian Open as she has won this title in the past. With such a strong record at Melbourne Park, Serena will be very hard to stop.

On the other side of the court, Dayana Yastremska also played exceptionally well in the previous round although she had to fight for 3 sets to get the victory. During the win, Dayana Yastremska won 4 break points while only losing 2 service games to set up the victory. Dayana Yastremska’s form has been very good leading up to this tournament as the Ukrainian played exceptionally well at the WTA Hobart International. This is expected to be a very tough match for Dayana Yastremska as she is facing one of the greatest tennis players of all-time.

This will be the first time that Serena Williams and Dayana Yastremska will be playing against each other at a WTA event.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Serena Williams to win this match. While Dayana Yastremska has been playing good tennis, she lacks the experience of playing at the Australian Open. Serena is hugely experienced, and she has won the Australian multiple times in the past. Considering her top form leading up to this match, I see Serena Williams easily winning this match.
