Serena Williams has made it to the semifinals at Wimbledon once again. While is feat is normally not special for Serena, she will be especially proud of this appearance since she only had her first child recently. This is one of the most impressive returns to professional sports and she will be desperate to ensure that the comeback continues into the final. In the semifinals, Serena Williams will be facing German superstar Julia Görges. Both players are very talented and skillful so we should be able to witness an extremely high-level tennis match.
Julia Görges came back from a set down to beat Dutch superstar Kiki Bertens in the quarterfinals. That win showed tons of courage and it means that the German can fight. Julia Görges is the 13th seed but has played far better than her ranking suggests and it will surely improve after this tournament. Serena Williams will be the biggest test that Julia Görges will face this tournament and if she can cause an upset and knock out the American, she will know that she has a great chance of winning her first Wimbledon. This is the furthest that Julia Görges has ever gotten in grand slam event and she will be enjoying the experience.
On the other side of the court, Serena Williams has been in this situation many times before and will know how to handle the big occasion. As far as skill is concerned, Serena Williams leads Julia Görges but the issue that the American will be concerned about is her fitness. Julia Görges is much fitter than Serena Williams since the German has been playing much more than the American recently. If Serena can stay fresh then she should win this match.
It always a massive risk to bet against Serena Williams but I am going to make a bold decision and predict that Julia Görges will win this match. The German is looking very sharp while Serena Williams looks like she is tiring. I think the added fitness of Julia Görges will get her the win in this match.
