Serena Williams and Magdalena Rybarikova meet in the first round of the 2016 French Open.

Serena Williams enters this tournament in great form after beating Madison Keys for the Rome Masters title, which was her 70th in her career. Serena has now won 12 of her last 14 singles matches, and her last six wins have been decided in straight sets. As long as Serena isn’t beating herself with unforced errors, it’s very tough to see somebody beating her in this tournament. Serena has won 13 of her last 14 matches on clay court. Serena hasn’t lost in the first round of a grand slam since the 2012 French Open. That’s the only time Serena has lost in the first round of a grand slam.

Magdalena Rybarikova is trying to find her footing after splitting her last eight matches and taking a plunge in the rankings. Rybarikova was a top-30 player just a few years ago but is now trying to stay within the top 100. The good news for Rybarikova is that she did just reach the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells Masters, which included a win over Roberta Vinci. Rybarikova has shown she’s capable of an upset here and there, but overall this has been a tough season for the Slovakian. Rybarikova has made it out of the first round in six of her last nine grand slam appearances.

This will be the second time these two play, as Serena won their only other meeting in the 2013 Canadian Masters. The match took 14 games to decide. This will obviously be their first meeting on clay court.

This should be your typical first round beatdown, as Rybarikova is a shell of herself at the moment and Serena proved in her last tournament that she’s peaking at the right time.

Serena wins in a match that shouldn’t take more than 15 games.
