Stan Wawrinka and Donald Young meet in the fourth round of the 2015 US Open.

Stan Wawrinka is coming off a straight sets victory over Ruben Bemelmans and has played just nine sets this tournament. Wawrinka is winning at least 75 percent of his first serve points and 49 percent of his second serve points. Wawrinka has produced 44 aces, 156 winners and 143 unforced errors in his first three matches. Wawrinka is finishing matches quickly despite playing five tiebreaks, as he should be well rested for this match. The concerns I have with Wawrinka is his low winning percentage on his second serve and the fact he’s racked up 98 unforced errors in his last two matches. Wawrinka has made the quarterfinals in his last five grand slam appearances. A win here would make three straight US Open quarterfinal trips for Wawrinka.

Donald Young is coming off a five set win over Viktor Troicki and has played 14 sets this tournament. Young is winning at least 66 percent of his first serve points and 42 percent of his second serve points. Young has produced 15 aces, 132 winners and 163 unforced errors in his first three matches. Young has come back twice this tournament when being down 0-2 sets. Add that to his doubles matches, and Young has to be getting tired at this point. However, the home crowd gives Young a nice advantage in tough situations. Young has never made the quarterfinals of a grand slam. This will be Young’s first fourth round grand slam appearance since the 2011 US Open.

This will be the third time these two meet, as Wawrinka won their 2011 match at the Shanghai Masters and Young won their 2011 match at the US Open. Both matches between these two have gone the distance. This will be the third time they meet on hard court.

I love the story with Young and it’s awesome seeing him have a breakout performance. While I wouldn’t be shocked if the journey continues for another match, Wawrinka is simply too talented and too well rested to lose this match.

Wawrinka sends the American packing.
