Swiss tennis superstar, Stan Wawrinka has returned to the seeded rankings which means that he will begin his 2019 ATP Miami Masters in the second round. At this stage of the tournament, Wawrinka will play against Filip Krajinović from Serbia.
Filip Krajinović won his opening round match in straight sets against Pierre-Hugues Herbert from France. Filip Krajinović impressed with his serving as he won 78% of his service points which allowed him to win all of his service games. This will be a much tougher match for Filip Krajinović as he is playing a much more accomplished player in Wawrinka.
Stan Wawrinka has been playing very well over the past few months as he finished second at ATP Rotterdam and had a decent run at the Indian Wells Open. At Indian Wells, Wawrinka played well but was paired up against Federer which saw him eliminated in the third round. The Miami Masters is one of Wawrinka’s weaker tournaments as he has a win rate of only 50%. Wawrinka made the fourth round of this tournament last season. Wawrinka may have a shaky record at this event but considering his career accomplishments, the Swiss superstar will have no doubts regarding his ability to win.
This will be the first time that Stan Wawrinka and Filip Krajinović will be playing each other at an ATP event.
Filip Krajinović played well in the opening round and he looks in good form. That being said, I see the Serb losing this match and Wawrinka winning. Stan Wawrinka is a player who relies heavily on form and confidence and he seems to play his best tennis in streaks. Wawrinka has been in very good form this season and I see him continuing his winning ways in Miami. Wawrinka is a more accomplished player when compared to Filip Krajinović and I see the Swiss superstar being too good for his opponent in this match.
