The Line: -- Over/Under:
Swiss tennis superstar, Stan Wawrinka has made it into the second round of Wimbledon. At this stage of the tournament, Stan Wawrinka will play against Reilly Opelka from the United States.
Stan Wawrinka had a solid victory in the opening round as he defeated Ruben Bemelmans in straight sets. During the victory, Wawrinka served exceptionally well. Wawrinka hit 7 aces which helped him win 77% of his service points. Stan Wawrinka won all of his service games and 5 return games to secure a comfortable victory.
Stan Wawrinka is well suited to the grass courts as his big serve and net play makes him very tough to beat. Surprisingly, Wawrinka is yet to win an ATP title on grass although his form heading into this tournament is very good. Wawrinka had a good French Open where he made it into the quarterfinals.
Wawrinka is playing well and he is highly experienced. That should make Stan Wawrinka tough to stop in this tournament.
On the other side of the coin, Reilly Opelka also won his previous match in straight sets. Opelka is a big server and he displayed that trait during the victory. Reilly Opelka hit 12 aces and won 92% of his service games. The receiving was also solid from Opelka as he broke his opponent’s serve on 5 occasions.
Reilly Opelka had a very poor French Open as he was eliminated in the opening round. While grass is a stronger surface for Opelka, his poor form may affect his confidence.
This will be the first time that Reilly Opelka and Stan Wawrinka will be playing each other at an ATP event.
This should be an interesting match since both players are big servers. I see only a few break points being won in this match so errors could be costly for both players. Wawrinka has much greater experience and the Swiss superstar has been playing with greater consistency. With that in mind, I am picking Stan Wawrinka to win this match.
