Stan Wawrinka vs. Richard Gasquet 2015 Wimbledon Tennis Pick, Odds, Prediction

Stan Wawrinka and Richard Gasquet meet Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the 2015 Wimbledon.

Stan Wawrinka is coming off a straight sets win over David Goffin, a match that took two and a half hours. Wawrinka has yet to drop a set this tournament and has played three tiebreaks. Wawrinka is winning at least 82 percent of his first serve points and 48 percent of his second serve points. Wawrinka has combined for 27 aces and 76 winners in his last two matches. Besides struggling on his second serve as of late, Wawrinka looks sharp and is making very little mistakes in his matches. However, Wawrinka had 41 unforced errors in his last match, a number that must improve moving forward. Wawrinka has now reached at least the quarterfinals of five straight grand slams. This is just Wawrinka’s second time reaching the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon.

Richard Gasquet is coming off a four set win over Nick Kyrgios, which finished in just under three hours. Gasquet has dropped just one set this tournament and has played two tiebreaks. Gasquet is winning at least 80 percent of his first serve points and 52 percent of his second serve points. Gasquet has combined for 22 aces and 88 winners in his last two matches. Gasquet is playing very clean tennis this tournament and looks to be in as great of form as we’ve seen in years. Gasquet has 18 or less unforced errors in three of his first four matches. Gasquet has reached the quarterfinals of a grand slam just twice in his career. This is Gasquet’s first quarterfinal appearance in the Wimbledon since 2007.

This will be the third time these two meet, as they’ve split the previous two meetings. The last time these two played was the 2013 French Open, a match Wawrinka won in five sets. Gasquet won the 2006 Paris Masters. This will be the first time these two play on grass.

Again, Gasquet is playing terrific tennis right now. However, Wawrinka has been a wrecking ball in grand slams since last season and is way too hard to bet against.
