Stefanos Tsitsipas and Hubert Hurkacz meet in the quarterfinals of the 2019 tennis Dubai.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is coming off a straight sets win over Egor Gerasimov that took 16 games to decide. In the victory, Tsitsipas won 87 percent of his first serve points and 50 percent of his second serve points. Tsitsipas won 75 percent of his total service points and converted on four of his eight break points. Tsitsipas has now won six straight matches and has won 12 of his 13 sets during that span. With a much more consistent serve, Tsitsipas is starting to look like the player who finished 2018, and he should be considered a favorite to win this event if this sort of play continues. Tsitsipas has won seven of his last eight matches on outdoor hard court.

Hubert Hurkacz is coming off a three sets win over Kei Nishikori that took 32 games to decide. In the victory, Hurkacz won 65 percent of his first serve points and 58 percent of his second serve points. Hurkacz won 63 percent of his total service points and converted on six of his seven break points. Hurkacz is coming off possibly the biggest win of his young career on the main tour, as he just beat a top-10 player and has won back-to-back matches in a main event on the rare occasion. With a combined 12 aces in his first two matches, Hurkacz gives himself a chance in this match if he can keep getting so many free points. Hurkacz has won six of his last seven matches on outdoor hard court.

These two have played twice and Tsitsipas won both matches in straight sets. The matches were in Marseille of this year and last years Next Gen Finals.

Hurkacz is no pushover when he’s hitting his spots, but he’s done very little on the main tour to think he can beat back-to-back top-15 players. Hurkacz has done most of his work up to this point in challenger play. Tsitsipas has had very trouble with him in the first two meetings and is back to playing high quality, clean tennis.

Tsitsipas cruises in straight sets.
