Stefanos Tsitsipas and Hubert Hurkacz meet in the 2018 tennis Next Generation ATP Finals.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is coming off a straight sets win over Frances Tiafoe that took 20 games to decide. In the victory, Tsitsipas won 80 percent of his first serve points and 71 percent of his second serve points. Tsitsipas won 78 percent of his total service points and saved both of his break points. Tsitsipas has dropped just one set this tournament and has been broken just once on four break points overall. Tsitsipas has clearly found his groove again after losing his last two matches entering this tournament, and he has to be the clear cut favorite to win this tournament. Tsitsipas has won six of his last eight matches on indoor hard court.

Hubert Hurkacz is coming off a five sets win over Jaume Munar that took 30 games to decide. In the victory, Hurkacz won 72 percent of his first serve points and 48 percent of his second serve points. Hurkacz won 64 percent of his total service points and produced six breaks on 12 break points. Hurkacz has played nine sets to get to this point, and while his serve has been hit or miss, he has produced 19 break points in his first two matches. If Hurkacz can have similar success with his return in this match, he gives himself a punchers chance to win this match. Hurkacz has won seven of his last nine matches on indoor hard court.

There’s no match history between these two players.

Motivation could be a factor for Tsitsipas given that he’s pretty much into the next round. However, Tsitsipas has been head and shoulders the best player in this tournament and does get an extra 32 grand for another round robin victory, as well as keeps himself eligible for an extra 24 grand being an undefeated champion.

Assuming Tsitsipas still has that competitive spirit, he should win this match rather easily.

Pick:
Stefanos Tsitsipas
