Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jaume Munar meet in the 2018 tennis Next Generation ATP Finals.

Stefanos Tsitsipas enters this tournament with back-to-back losses, which includes an early exit in the Paris Masters. Tsitsipas has spent the last couple months working hard to build his ranking and earn points for the end of year tournaments, and that includes winning a title in Stockholm. The rest should benefit Tsitsipas, and as long as he’s playing with that competitive spirit, he has a chance to win this event. Tsitsipas has shown a bit of nonchalant play at times and sometimes needs to get behind to get the juices flowing. Tsitsipas needs to start this tournament off strong and continue that level of play. Tsitsipas has won four of his last six matches on indoor hard court.

Jaume Munar enters the tournament losing seven of his last 10 matches and a lot of those matches took place in challenger play. Munar has had issues with his second serve recently and has had a hard time getting anything on his return in his losses. You could argue there isn’t a player in this tournament in worse form than Munar, so there’s not going to be a lot of support from the betting community. However, Munar does have a couple of challenger titles under his belt this year and did make the semifinals in Kitzbuhel, so he can’t be overlooked despite his struggles recently. Munar has lost five of his last seven matches on indoor hard court.

There’s no previous matches between these two players.

Munar has been getting beat up the last few weeks by players ranked outside of the top-100, while Tsitsipas has put together some brilliant performances and seems to be coming into his own. Tsitsipas should be considered a favorite to win this tournament and create some true buzz heading into the new year.

Tsitsipas wins this match in straight sets.
