|Date & Time||Wednesday July 24, 2019, 11:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: -- Over/Under:
American tennis player, Taylor Fritz will be playing at the 2019 ATP Atlanta Open. Fritz will begin his tournament in the second round where he will play against Kevin King, who is also from the United States.
Kevin King had a big win in the previous round as he defeated Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets. During the win, King impressed with his receiving as he won 54% of his return points which allowed him to break Grigor Dimitrov’s serve on 7 occasions. While the receiving was impressive, King struggled to hold serve. Kevin King gave Dimitrov 8 break point opportunities with the Bulgarian breaking the American’s serve on 5 occasions. Kevin King hit 9 double faults and only won 52% of his service points. With Fritz as his next opponent, Kevin King must improve his serve.
On the other side of the coin, Taylor Fritz received a bye in the opening round due to his high seeding. Taylor Fritz enters this tournament in good form after having a very strong grass-court season. Taylor Fritz won the Eastbourne International where he defeated the likes of Kyle Edmund and Guido Pella. Returning to home soil should give Fritz a boost as he should enjoy the support from the crowd.
Taylor Fritz and Kevin King have played each other once in the past. The match was played in 2018 at the Noumea Challenger where Taylor Fritz won in 3 sets.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Taylor Fritz to win this match. Kevin King played well to defeat Grigor Dimitrov but King was hugely aided by his opponent who played very poorly. Kevin King struggled with his serving and I see that being a problem. Looking at Taylor Fritz, the 2019 Eastbourne International winner looks in supreme form and I see him having most of his bases covered. Fritz is the stronger player and I see him being too good for Kevin King in this match.
