Taylor Fritz and Radu Albot meet in the semifinals of the 2019 tennis Los Cabos Open.
Taylor Fritz is coming off a straight sets win over Fabio Fognini that took 20 games to decide. In the victory, Fritz won 84 percent of his first serve points and 56 percent of his second serve points. Fritz won 67 percent of his total service points and converted on two of his five break points. Fritz got 41 percent of his first serves in play, hit six aces and saved all five of his break points. Fritz could be better with his serve, but he continues to win the big points, and he now has three career wins over top-10 players. Fritz hopes to make his third final appearance of the year and the fourth of his career. Fritz has won six of his last seven matches on hard court.
Radu Albot is coming off a straight sets win over Thanasi Kokkinakis that took 18 games to decide. Albot won 65 percent of his total service points and converted on four of his six break points. Albot got 60 percent of his first serves in play and saved three of his four break points. Albot has now won each of his last six sets and has won three straight matches for the first time since Geneva. Albot hopes to make his second career final appearance and first since this years Delray Beach Open. Albot has won four of his last five matches on hard court.
There’s no match history between these two players.
Albot has a chance here with the way he’s serving, but it’s Fritz who has been playing the better tennis over the last two months and is somebody who is really starting to put everything together. Fritz is growing up rather quickly and you can see the confidence starting to build as he’s opening up the door to more variety of shots and winning the big points. I’ve been impressed with the American as of late.
I like Fritz to make his third final of the year.
