Tomas Berdych vs Filip Krajinović - 2/8/19 ATP Tour - Open Sud de France Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

Czech tennis superstar, Tomas Berdych, has made it into the quarterfinals of the 2019 ATP Open Sud de France where he will face Filip Krajinović from Serbia.

Filip Krajinović had a big win in the previous round as he beat David Goffin who was the number 2 seed for this tournament. It was a very convincing performance by Filip Krajinović as he won in straight sets. During the win, Krajinović served exceptionally well as he had a first serve percentage of 72% which allowed him to win over 70% of the points played during his service games. Filip Krajinović won all of his service games which ensured he always had an advantage in the match. It has been a good season for Krajinović as he had a strong Australian Open campaign prior to this tournament.

Tomas Berdych, on the other hand, had a dominant win in the previous round as he cruised past Benoit Paire in straight sets. Berdych played exceptionally well as he only lost 2 games in the entire match. Berdych won 100% of his service games while breaking his opponent’s serve on 5 occasions to set up a comfortable win. Prior to this event, Tomas Berdych finished second at the ATP Qatar Open and made the 4th round of the Australian Open. With form on his side, Tomas Berdych looks like the favourite to win this match.

This is set to be the first time that Tomas Berdych and Filip Krajinović will be playing each other at an ATP event.

All in all, I am going to pick Tomas Berdych to win this match. Berdych is a very accomplished and experienced player and he looks to be playing his best tennis. Berdych looks confident after his performance at Qatar. Filip Krajinović is less accomplished and in poorer form, so it is going to be hard for the Serb to compete. With that in mind, I see see Tomas Berdych making his second semifinal of 2019.
