Venus Williams and Danielle Collins meet in the quarterfinals of the tennis 2018 Miami Open.

Venus Williams is coming off a three sets win over Johanna Konta that took 27 games to decide. In the victory, Venus won 73 percent of her first serve points and 45 percent of her second serve points. Venus found a way to win her fourth round match after dropping the first set and playing over five hours of tennis in about 24 hours. Venus continues to surprise people with her play at her age, and she continues to find ways to win despite not playing her best. Venus can certainly improve her second serve, and she’s coming off a match in which she gave her opponent 10 break chances. Venus can make the semifinal of the Miami Open for the ninth time in her career. Venus has won 10 of her last 12 quarterfinal appearances. Venus has won seven of her last eight matches on hard court.

Danielle Collins is coming off a three sets win over Monica Puig that took 27 games to decide. In the victory, Collins won 80 percent of her first serve points and 39 percent of her second serve points. Collins was able to shock the tennis world yet again after losing the first set, being broken four times and still finding a way to beat a quality player. This is easily the biggest moment of Collins’ career at 24 years old, as she has extremely little WTA experience under her belt. Either way, Collins has defended well, been aggressive on the return and now has multiple wins over top-60 players, which includes a win over a top-10 player in Coco Vandeweghe. Collins is easily the cinderella of this tournament on either side and just more than doubled her career prize money in one tournament. Collins has won 11 of her last 12 matches on hard court.

This will be the first ever meeting between these two.

I’m not sure betting against Collins is a good idea, as who thought she’d get this far? At this point, nothing is impossible right? I do have questions just how much Venus has left in the tank after playing so much tennis and having to get up for another match. However, experience has to take its toll eventually. Collins has impressive wins, but big match experience is usually a massive advantage once you get deep into tournaments. Venus has seen it all and has a long line of success at this tournament in particular. Nice wins or not, Collins is still wet behind the ears on the big stage.

I like Venus to reach the semis.
