Vekic has won all four sets this tournament and six of her last nine wins have been decided in straight sets. Vekic looks to win three matches for the second time in her last three tournaments. Vekic has won three of her last four matches on hard court.

These two played once, which was in the 2016 Wimbledon, a match Venus won in straight sets. The match was decided in 23 games.

Venus matches these days simply come down to how she’s going to serve and what the unforced error numbers are looking like. If Venus isn’t beating herself and making crazy errors, she wins. Considering she’s had an extra day of rest and we’re on American soil, I’ll give her the edge. While Vekic has beaten some decent competition these last few weeks, she’s not going to blow anybody away with her game.

I like Venus to make the quarters.
